Hey,
I recently imported some products from China, and they didn't get seized or anything like that.
I am certainly in favour of importing from China, because, let's be frank, they really do have the cheapest merchandise.
I would reccommend starting out on something small, like accessories. I truly believe that accessories is where the real money is to be made.
1. They are cheaper. Not just because of the low actual cost, but you can often afford to buy lots, and therefore reduce the price even further.
2.Accessories sell! Just go on Ebay and look, people almost cannot help themselves but buy accessories to their toys.
I am selling iPod accessories, and I am making 300, 400% mark up on my sales.
Albeit I am selling in New Zealand, using a simliar site to ebay called Trademe, which is a much more concentrated market, and with far less competition.
I would reccomend importing from China. Just ask the sellers (where DHgate is concerned), if the products are authentic. If they choose to lie, they don't get your money, and the most you will have to pay is the shipping costs back to China, sometimes not even that.
DHgate has a very good system for ensuring buyer safety, I have been very happy with it.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Tom
