Good news for our Swiss members! Amazon has reportedly tied up an agreement with Swiss Post. What this means is a possible custom clearance for Amazon in Switzerland. According to sources, the team targets to commence delivery in December or January 2018.
At present, Amazon runs its retail operations in Europe excluding Switzerland. As soon as details will be ironed out, the company plans to service Switzerland from Germany.
In addition, Amazon has fairly expressed its interest in the Swiss eCommerce industry. According to Amazon.de country manager Ralph Kleber, they consider the Swiss market equally important to other Europe customers and don’t want to disappoint them in any way.
Once Amazon launches in Switzerland, customs clearance would take a maximum of there hours hence, giving a possibility for 24-hour deliveries. Amazon also offers this delivery method as part of its Prime offer in Germany. With Amazon Prime, consumers in Switzerland would be able to access Amazon’s complete online offering, which includes 229 million products. Amazon already follows this model in the Netherlands, Austria and Turkey.
