I am based in Slovenia, which is a member state of the European Union, and am about to start dropshipping. However, I have a few questions and need them answered before doing any business.
Currently I am a sole trader, and am not registered for the VAT.
I would like to sell products, imported from China, onto markets of the European Union member states, also to Slovenia, and also abroad, to the USA, Canada, Australia, Russia, etc.
What is with taxes (VAT) and customs? If I understand the dropshipping process correctly, the buyer pays customs?
Should I decide to also dropship technical products like smart watches, tablet computers, maybe also mobile phones (save for the iPhone, etc.), etc., what’s with the certificates like CE, RoHS, etc.?
Is it better to choose suppliers which are already based within the EU?
Are there any other obstacles that one has to be careful of?
Thank you and best regards,
David
