No business license available in Texas

I'm new and want to start opening accounts with wholesale companies to begin dropshipping. Many of them, of course, ask for an EIN and business license.

I have an EIN and have registered for an Online Sales and Use Tax Registration Form, but I've been to several Texas state and local websites and apparently there's no general business license available to be had.

What's the best way to handle this so that I can begin opening accounts?

This is what you need. I don't know if TX has a sales tax, but I think it does.

It is different than a business license. It 'allows' you to collect sales tax, and 'exempts' you from paying it when buying supplies.

I look forward to the day when all taxes are eliminated, but as long as they have more guns, you have no choice!

Some wholesalers in socialist states have the notion that every business requires a license. Just inform them that your state does not require a license.

I just signed up. All I have is a social security number. What do I need to apply for to be able to work with drop shippers? I have a positive 38 rating with Ebay with 0 negatives. Can someone please tell me what I need to do to get set up. I also live in Texas.

You need an EIN, business bank account, and sometimes liability insurance, sometimes tax license, sometimes business license. Here is a list from one of the more extensive suppliers:

1. A photo of your store

2. Copy of your state sales tax certificate or resale certificate

3. Copy of your business license

4. Copy of your occupational license

5. Copy of your proof of liability insurance for your business showing xxx named as insured xxxxxxxx must be specifically named as a certificate holder on the Certificate of Liability Insurance. You will need to contact your insurance carrier to have xxxx added. Please use our PO box address on the insurance document.

6. Completed and signed Credit Application in all designated spaces

7. Signed Policy

8. Blanket Credit Card Charge form (This is only needed if you are requesting Credit Card Terms)

That seems quite extensive. I guess I will have to do some digging on this and see what I can do. I understand the tax license and possibly an llc, but all I want to do is sell online. I don't have, and don't want a brick and mortar store

It's really best to speak with the suppliers if you feel you can't meet their account requirements, quite often they will offer alternatives for you to get your business.
