Hi Ken,
SaleHoo features a range of different suppliers in our directory, with new suppliers always being added. We do that to ensure that there are fully verified supply resources for members, no matter what business model they want to operate with. From High volume wholesale buying, right down to no volume at all dropshipping.
The choices are there, it's really up to the member as to what kind of supply method they want to use. The one thing you have to bare mind is that each supply method offers different pros and cons, and they include prices. Buying in high volume from a wholesaler provides higher discounts than dealing with no product cost outlay at all with drop shipper.
Of course the supply method you use has an effect on the price you pay for an item, and that then has the flow on effect of how to compete in an open marketplace like eBay. You have a mix of sellers there, some dropshipping, some selling through wholesale resources and then you even have some wholesalers there selling at wholesale prices direct to the public. So depending on what your supply method is, you have to then find a product/s where you can compete on.
It's not as simple as saying, I want to sell something like an iPhone through dropshipping and then trying to compete against sellers using big wholesale buying power and then selling on a very tight margin. You will never be able to compete, the other seller has secured their items at a far better price, giving them the advantage. It doesn't mean you can't make money dropshipping, but it does mean there will be certain products and sellers that you won't be able to compete with on an eBay if you aren't using the same supply method as they are.
It all comes back to research, finding a spot in the market where you can compete against sellers using the supply method as you or even better, finding a spot that is completely under resourced with suppliers (a niche market)
You see SaleHoo does help new sellers, but we don't just do it through providing fully verified supply resources. We also do it through education, helping members understand the market and what it takes to be competitive, as well as destroying of few urban myths about how simple it is to make easy money by selling online.
