Jacobs Trading Company - Are they really in Salamanca, NY?

Hi Guys.

I was looking for any Salehoo suppliers in my area to attempt to do business with them and save on shipping costs. I came across The Jacobs Trading Company. They claim to have a location in Salamanca, NY, about an hour drive from me. Since my delivery job takes me through there, I thought I would look for it.

No results from Mapquest, or Google Maps. I spoke to lifetime residents if they knew where it was. No. They never heard of Jacobs Trading Company. The couple are 60 years old each. They would know. Salamanca is a small community.

It makes me wonder if they have other fraudlent information.

Its really panic to find some one with good ethics of business here. And much panic when its fraudulent too. I am seeking for a business that I could run from here in Pakistan through ebay. I have strong management experience, Masters in Computer Science and having a great reputation over elance, a freelance platform.

Tried this directory and got many drop shippers from china, but my target market is USA, UK, Australia. And shipping charges from china to there are a lot.

Could any one suggest me how to find a good guy there who could help me out to establish a good business over elance. I am much trust worthy and professional guy above all.

If some one could give me a proper solution it will be great.

I have asked my colleague to investigate further on the claimed location. But there is a possibility that their branch in Salamanca, NY has closed down. Anyway, its best not to assume :) I will update you as soon as Irene complete's here investigation.

Their website does not say they have a "location" in Salamanca; it says they have an FOB point, a distribution center. It may or may not have their name anywhere on it -- it may not even be theirs specifically, but sublet from another company. This is not an uncommon business model in freight.

Not saying that's the answer, but I know from experience this is a common practice. What did Jacobs say when you asked them about it?

Hello again Dale,

Frank's right about the address being s distribution center (which is most often not open to the public). Any Jacobs Trading has confirmed what Frank posted.

We do have a shipping location only in Salamanca, NY. It is not open to the public. All of our business is handled through our Minnesota office.

I can also confirm the main location for Jacob's Trading is in Hopkins, MN. I've lived in the vicinity most of my life and can tell you they're a well known and respected company in our state. However, I've never done any business with them. Irwin Jacobs is the name of the owner. You can search for him in Wikipedia.
