Filing for sales tax license (in Colorado, US)

Hello!

This is my first post on salehoo. My name is Sepideh and I'm really happy being a Salehoo member since last week.

I'm interested in starting up an online business. I've applied for Trade Name (DBA) and now I should apply for Sales Tax License in Colorado.

The problem here is, in the form they ask me to exactly determine what product I'm going to sell.

As a novice, I am probably going to test several niche markets in different categories. So, I cannot select only one product.

Anyone could kindly help me?

Should I file a separate "Sales Tax License" for each product I'm going to sell?

As per the state, you need one sales tax license for each separate business location. So, if you have one business selling multiple types of product on multiple sites, but out of just one location, you will only need one sales tax license.

But in the form they ask to determine exactly what product I'm going to sell. and I can just select one. (for example: bicycle)

If you have ever had such a problem, how did you solve it?

Can I select just one product, but sell several other products under that license?

Hello Islandbreeze,

I'm not sure what type of license you are applying for but I checked Colorado's State website and it is stated there that -

Small Home Businesses -- If all retail sales are from a private residence and the gross sales are less than $1,000 a year then a small home business is not required to hold a sales tax license.

So if this will be your first time selling you should not have to go through too much trouble in getting your sales tax license at this point.
