Flea market crowds are quite diverse. Certainly fair to say that there are a lot of bargain hunters attracted to such markets, but you will find people out for just a bit of a look and a coffee and a variety of others.
From what you say about your stock profile, I would suggest that you would need to establish a market presence over a length of time. Of course price will be governed largely by what your competitors are selling there, but having an ongoing presence will get you established and that gives you the best chance of building a customer base.
Your thinking in regards to developing your own website is quite sound, but not as an alternative. Websites need to be marketed, and an ongoing presence at a flea market is a solid way f marketing one.
You don't have to carry the exact same stock, in fact a website would allow you to increase your stock profile by offering drop shipped products as well, keeping more cash in your pocket.
Run weekly online specials that you can promote at the market and drive traffic through your marketing.
Of course the bottom line will always be are you selling products that people want at prices people want to pay, but you'll only get a real feel for that by persisting. Packing up your bags and heading home early will only guarantee you of one result, and that certainly isn't success!
i recently went to a flea market in new jersey and was selling all new clothing (name brand) socks, retro dvds and handbags all new. but did not earn much as even with name brand i was not asking more than 15 for nautica, polo and geoffery beene (nwt) on the people were like saying too much. I just guess that people want a bargain in the flea markets. I am a small business owner incorparated in the U.S. How can i sell stuff below my cost (unless i order thousands in advance) and still making a decent money. i am now thinking about selling on craigslist or start my own website. i know suppliers with overstock brand new stuff. any suggestions shall i abandon the flea market crowd( cause it seems they want quality without paying for one ).
Thanks
