Hi Folks.

Are there any articles on Salehoo written about how to use Twitter to promote your products?

Right now I have a single item up for auction on eBay (a used Trac Fone).

I do have a Twitter account but I have used it only a little bit.

Hi Dale,

Sorry there is no formal guide as to how exactly you can use twitter to promote your products, although we do ever so often encourage it.

You can start by tweeting business related things 10-20 times a day â€“ you can tweet about your products, promotions, sales and also include interesting tweets from other people or online sites that are relevant to your business. At time you might also consider tweeting interesting business-related things youâ€™ve found on the web.

To build your list of followers, you might also consider following others on twitter, oftentimes they will follow you back and you might captivate some of their followers to follow you too!

It is important to acknowledge people, have them see you as a person trying to build relationships and not just as one business up for the sale. Avoid promoting your company/ product directly, do not tweet "Bags for sale at low prices!", instead share one useful informational blog post link about your product. :) Keep your message desirable and relevant, Twitter is meant to be a social tool so do engage in conversations, thank re-tweets. :)

Provide the link to â€œFollow Me on Twitterâ€ in your website, blogs, in your email signature and forum posts. :)

You can actually import your contacts from Hotmail, Gmail and from your own address book at Twitter.

If used correctly to provide positive exposure to your business, Twitter can be really be used as a powerful marketing platform. Nowadays companies make thousands of dollars of sales from customers who found them from Twitter.

You should bear in mind that just straight selling on Twitter will never produce any results. Unless you have a site that is known for daily deals, coupons etc. most people will not follow you for the purpose of learning about what you have to sell. Like building an e-mail list, a productive Twitter timeline takes a lot of work and creativity. Whatever it is you're selling, you're going to want to focus on news, tips etc. and fostering conversations and connections related to thost products, and once in a while put out a direct selling tweet.
