How to minimize ground shipping costs?

I have a concern about the USA ground shipping. I really think it prohibitive. Take for instance I have an ordinary pallet of diapers to ship from Texas to Miami, the couriers will charge me between $400.00 and $600.00 average.

There must be a way to minimize ground shipping cost, can any one tell how. Or recommend a reasonable shipper since this ground shipping is so counter productive.

Since I haven't shipped using ground shipping in the US, here are a few tips and guides I found for you -

Link hidden: Login to view - Another reason the rates you are getting may be higher than usual could be the 10% (residential surcharge) added if you are having your pallet delivered to your residence as pointed out in this article.

Shipping whole pallets anywhere is not a cheap option unfortunately. You can't reduce the price, but you can reduce the cost per pallet. That might sound strange, but most companies will give you volume discounts, where as you may be paying $400 to ship one pallet, with a volume discount you may get two pallets shipped for $750, and so on.

Yes, it is a greater outlay up front, but you can reduce your cost per item by making that investment.
