Hi Denise,
Normally it will be indicated on the dropshipper's website if an item is in stock or not. There will be a comment under the product listing/picture 'Not in Stock' or 'Out of Stock'
Although in some cases, the product is in stock when you list it and when your buyer buys it - but when you place the order you'll find out that the supplier has ran out of stock. You will be informed by the dropshipper if this happens and oftentimes will be given a date when new stocks will arrive. This is why it is sometimes suggested to have at least 1 or 2 items with you in case your supplier runs out.
But if your customer fails to receive their order for whatever reason it is best you get in touch with your supplier directly. And inform your buyer as well - so you'll know if they are willing to wait for the product to arrive or if they would prefer a refund instead.
