What products can I sell that offers a reasonable profit margin?

Hi am Jesse,

Am currently new and a bit clueless on this website. Before i joined i did a bit research on SaleHoo and sounded pretty good to me. But now that i have joined and trying to find products, wholesales, dropshipping products i just cant find something that will make me profit. Every item that i have searched the price is just so high to re-sell for profit. I am interested in the fields of products small as an ipod nano, a product that is very inexpensive to buy in big quantities. And as i am new i would like to start of slow and work my way up to success. Just some information i am interested selling products such as, Ipods of any kind that are popular or any other gadget or electronic product that is hot today.

I do have some selling experience on eBay and have account, and am aware of using paypal as well. All i need is a good product that can meet my budget starting for the first time.

First, I would just like to say that Electronics is actually one of the most competitive markets online. The electronics industry has always run on very low margins from wholesalers to end users and marketplaces like eBay have only tightened the margins even further.

Most electronics sell at the wholesale price or below wholesale on eBay. That's how intense the competition is. But please don't get discouraged in pursuing the product line you are interested in. You can still succeed in selling iPods and other related products provided (as you mentioned) you buy these products in bulk (which lowers the price relatively).

Unfortunately the requirements to source these wholesale are extremely high due to Appleâ€™s desire to protect their brand value. If you want to source these items wholesale, youâ€™ll need to fill out an application on Appleâ€™s website and be able to meet a minimum annual purchase requirement of more than $100,000 and provide 2 business references â€“ among other things. Although there is no other way to legitimately source Apple iPhones, iPods and the iPad wholesale except through Apple themselves, you can source Apple accessories from a number of wholesalers and drop shippers. Here is a list of a few SaleHoo suppliers for Apple accessories:

(Donâ€™t forget you need to find the Wholesale section on these supplierâ€™s websites and either fill out an application form or contact them directly to get wholesale prices).

The other option to source Apple products is via liquidators. Liquidators can legitimately resell iPods, iPhones etc, but Apple wonâ€™t honor the warranty for products sourced this way.

Thanks for a quick response. I thought so about the high demand on electronics but wasnt that sure until now thanks for clearing that out. Well I guess i need more research and see what i want to sell, let me ask this...i have sold pokemon cards before and they would sell pretty good as i sold them. I have tried finding dropshippers or wholesale manufactuares to buy boxes or packs of these Pokemon Cards but, like i mentioned earlier everything is just high priced to make profit.

eBay has become an extremely competitive marketplace and it is not uncommon to find products selling at prices the same as or lower than wholesaler.

How can this be? Because lots of wholesalers sell on eBay directly to the public! Unfair yes, but its the reality.

Another probable reason for the slim profit margin could be that these cards fall under the collectibles category and oftentimes suppliers may take advantage of the demand.

May I also suggest trying out our Research Lab in your hunt for products. It will return a number of related keywords for product ideas you can consider. You can then evaluate and compare a number of factors for each keyword to get an idea if it will be profitable.

i see, in your perspective what would you recommend me in selling to earn me some cash.

Heres a list of what hobbies i do.

-RC Trucks

-Collect Hot Wheels Collectibles

-Collected Pokemon Cards Valeble ones.

-Ipods thought it would be easy to sell but hard to find...

-Always online checking what to buy to re-sell and make money.

-A bit knowledge in computer field. Love to be in the computer 24/7 lol.

-Really like fixing up my truck with Accessories and Performance parts.

Well thats what i do at times.

Also in my envirement where i live theirs quite few flea markets i can also sell their and online. I think that would be great but like you mentioned i must first come out with a Product solution, its just so hard i guess. But am willing to give it all i got to become successful in the future.

Besides Ipods, you've got some products with good potential on your list - RC Trucks, Collectible Hot Wheels, and Vehicle Accessories and Performance Parts.

As far as the Pokemon cards are concerned, it would depend on how many valuable cards you're able to obtain for resale. The vast majority of Pokemon cards on eBay sell for very small amounts of money -- it could be extremely difficult to make any real money selling Pokemon cards.

I would focus on the 3 areas I listed above, and start from there!
