DHGate review
DHGate is a sourcing site, the companies listed there are independent of DHGate, and it is incumbent on you as a buyer to research any company on the site you are considering doing business with.
As for fake, as Jimmy said, you have no chance with brand name phones, iPods and alike. In fact you have no chance of any brand name product no matter what Chinese manufacturer you are dealing with, whether on DHGate or not. To arm you with more info, please read this Link hidden: Login to view.
If you are looking for unbranded items, then sites like DHGate can be a pretty good resource, however you must still research any business that you are considering doing business with because there are plenty out there just waiting to take the cash of the next sucker in line!
DHgate, TradeTang, etc, are all the same B2B style site. A central location to source from multiple Chinese companies. The general rule of thumb is: if it's branded, it's a fake/copy. This applies to almost everything from China, from consumer electronics to apparel. Before I make a purchase from any company, I look at the product photos. If they have the brandings or logos on the items they show, ask them if the items are original and authentic with warranty. 9 times out of 10 they'll tell me that they are 'high quality' copies. If you want to sell products from Chinese based companies, look for non-branded items. Most of those products are still covered under some sort of manufacturer's warranty. I still have yet to find a legitimate Chinese company selling authentic name brand products, I'm fairly certain they do not exist.
I have recently tried DHGate and my goodness, all are fake. Total scam. Nothing name brand that they show for sale is what they are selling. Lost money. Still trying to get my money back.
A lot of bad sellers there giving away low quality knockoffs.
Yet and this is very important, there is still real branded merchandise there which happens to officially be good. It's very hard to find, often not worth the effort to locate.
They have some. But the quality products are their non-branded electronics and things, they have just about the same amount which is good and opposite of the bad if you do your dilligence.
I nearly bought just over $1000 yesterday luckily seen lots of complain about them. Anybody who finds out about 'any scam ' should 'name them and shame them' so people like us won't be conned. I'm very upset with Salehoo. Why do they advertise DHgate and some others? So cheers to people like you who don't like other people to be conned!
Hi Tapas,
As what fudjj said and I qoute, 'DH Gate is a sourcing site, the companies listed there are independent of DH Gate'. Basically, if you find a supplier on their website, it's up to you to research the company before you deal with them.
This advice can be found practically everywhere in the SaleHoo forum and even in other forums online: 'Don't buy branded goods from a Chinese/Asian supplier'. China is a good source of unbranded/generic goods. Their products are being sold at very low prices giving you plenty of room to make money but please stay away from the so-called 'branded goods' from China.
Lastly, we retain DHgate in our directory because they will resolve any disputes and will refund your money if a complaint has been made and you were unable to reach a satisfactory resolution. There are other sourcing/b2b sites that doesn't have this kind of service so if something goes wrong, you'll just find yourself stuck.
You can read our full report on DHGate here: Link hidden: Login to viewTo register a complaint with DHgate, login to your DHgate account and open a dispute. DHgate will help you resolve the issue from there.
You can learn more about the dispute process by clicking the link below:

DHgate is not that good at resolving problems they will side with seller when he only wants to pay you at the most 10% of what you paid for it. Or they will tell you that you can send it back to China at your own expense. I wish ebay had this screw your buyer mentality(LOL). DHgate is useless and I wish salehoo did not have them on this site because their are going to be alot of discouraged newbies when they look at the price and have to have a dispute with the seller. Stay away from DHgate about 3/4 of the suppliers will scam you and DHgate will not care because they get their money.
Come on Salehoo knows DHgate is a gateway for copy cat products.
I am fairly certain DHgate pays SaleHoo a commission for new accounts from SaleHoo traffic. I challenge a SaleHoo employee to post 5 certified wholesale vendors from DHgate that SaleHoo will stamp as a certified go to wholesale source who will stand behind the item as authentic with manufacturer papers stating they have the license and permission to sell the brand.
everything is fake, i bought a phone and it sucks, don't recommend

We don't receive any commissions from any of our listed suppliers. We make money solely on the sheer volume of sales. Please note that all transactions, from simple inquiries to placing an order are done directly between a member and the supplier.
As we have repeatedly mentioned all throughout the forum, we do not recommend buying branded goods from a supplier from China/Asia and this includes DHgate. We always advise our members to use DHgate cautiously and we do not recommend people use it to buy branded goods. Use it only to buy no-brand, generic products.
Cheers,
Hey guys, I know the thread’s a bit old but I just wanted to mention a few more points for members wanting to know more about DH Gate…
What is DHGate? DHGate was founded in 2004 and is a B2B website. It facilitates wholesale product sourcing for small and medium size online businesses from China based manufacturers and suppliers. They accept safe payment methods, offer logistics services, trust and safety, US based product distribution warehouses, escrow protection services, and even an internet financing services. The website is available in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, and Spanish.
Is DHGate Reliable? DHGate is not a supplier rather a platform where numerous suppliers are listed so in all honesty you get a varied mix of good and probably not so good suppliers. It’s all about doing your due diligence. Before buying anything I suggest you do a bit of a background search to ensure that you are dealing with a reliable supplier. I’m sure if you do your homework you are bound to find reliable suppliers in there for generic or non-brand name products.
Note that Chinese suppliers including those in DHGate are known to sell brand name imitations or what we refer to as fakes. It is best to stay away and absolutely avoid buying any products offered as branded. Remember Chinese and authentic don’t really go together.
How do you pay on DHGate? As of 2012 PayPal is no longer a partner of DHGate so it ceased to be as an available payment option. However DHGate continues to accept safe payment methods such as credit cards on their website. For a complete list of supported payments please check this Link hidden: Login to view
Can I get refund on DHGate? Yes you can, you must provide evidence or reason to support your refund request which you need to file via DHGate’s Refund & Dispute under Active Orders.
They also provide a specific timeline for all refund requests. You can request a ‘Return & Refund’ within the following time frames based on the shipping method that was used.
5-90 days if your package was shipped via UPS, FedEx, TNT, DHL or USPS.
7-90 days if your package was shipped via EMS, E-packet or E-quick.
10-90 days if your package was shipped via regular post such as China Post, Hong Kong Post, etc.
Returns and refunds are classified into four categories and there are specific steps for each. To learn more about how you can request a refund please visit this Link hidden: Login to view.
Hope this helps!
