hmm well your pretty much screwed. Hopefully it was not allot of money. This is yet the same reason I tell people to stay away from paypal. They will rob you blind.

I have no advice for you. If its a large sum of money I say sue them. Dont waste your time on the phone with them as they will give you a loooong run around. I had to file a big lawsuit against them. They released my money the same day they got the summons.

Merchantinc.com is pretty good. The only bad part about it is they charge you around 4.25% or something if your customer use a credit card with reward program. As for normal rates, I think it about 2.39%.

Planes is absolutely correct on this. It happened to me & I told them I was new & I was selling things around the house etc, etc etc. Maybe I got lucky but they unblocked my account right after I talked to them. I am sure looking forward to the new payment options because PayPal will be history from my auctions.

I get emails from Ebay and Paypal similar to these alot. I do not log in on Ebay or Paypal from the links on the email. They are almost always Phishing attempts to get your passwords.

Paypal is trash. I use them very rarely and its mostly on ioffer.com or to buy something in specific.

To receive payment I always use Amazon Payments and have never had any trouble with them. Also 1st data payment solutions.

Both of them offer total security with only a credit card most of the time, otherwise I take money orders, without issue.

In your case, it was the amount of money in such a short time from several different sources.

I am not defending Paypal in any way. I just know your experience certainly raised some pretty big red flags with Paypal. And you had to start legal proceedings with them right, before they released the funds.

I think they were being a little sleazy with you and trying to keep the funds.

The sit with Paypal is to play their game if you want them in your business.

And until recently, they were the only game in town as post 07 eBay accounts are required to use Paypal.

If you have an 07 or older account you are OK as you don't have to use Paypal. eBay account

I have left PayPal for good now, we still have an account but I just leave it to other people now, sadly for them. Saying that I have more than paid my dues with them, spent countless hours on the phone to customer services, having my account limited on launch dates for businesses, money frozen etc

I have switched to google checkout and Link hidden: Login to view and they are both a lot better!

With online banking now though you can pretty much pay anyone with a phone call and I think the banks will set up something to rival PayPal in the economic state we are in at the moment!

There are ways to work Paypal to your advantage.

If you set it up correctly you will never have holds and you can still operate on eBay even with a new account.

There is not any real processing fee and they can never just freeze your money for no reason at all, it takes alot to cause a problem with them. And for really large payments definitely 1st Data payment solutions, I wouldn't trust anything less!

Absolutely Paypal sux. But for people here they are still looking to sell on eBay

and right now you have to have a Paypal account, especially for a newbie eBayer.

And now eBay is making it tougher for sellers to obtain merchant accounts.

If you are new to eBay, Paypal will be OK if you start slow and stay on top of things-ship fast with tracking through Paypal-be ready for limits and slowly make your way to 100 FB.

If your going to sell on eBay this is the price you have to pay.

Don't they know everyone hates it? All the sellers hate it, I'm sure the ultra veterans hate it the most.

Having to prove you're not some criminal or going to 'steal from them' just to be able to use a merchant account on eBay is deplorable. It's the reason they can never get into the direct sales market, their rules are too difficult on the public.

Their competition's rules offer no such limitations as in that world, direct commerce is based on how many methods you have to pay and to resolve all disputes. Paypal doesn't exist in that world.
