I use a 7 or ten day listing platform, always finishing my items on a Sunday afternoon around 5pm.
All the market research that I have ever read indicates that a Sunday afternoon is the time that most of the family are all at home together, and I target close to dinner time to increase my odds of having a potential buyer online at the closing time of my listing.
Waiting til after dinner can find people laying on the couch watching some TV, trying not to thing about work in the morning, and while they are in that mind set they can forget that listing of yours they were interested in.
Of course people can use autobid and walk away, and I have no stats to back up my opinion, more my sense of human nature, but I believe someone would rather be there at the time of closing to bid themselves.
It gives them more flexibility, and they can make last minute decisions whether or not to chase the item, or leave it.
It's all about giving yourself the best opportunity to make a sale, and if you take every aspect of making a sale into consideration, then you will increase your chances!
The best way to generate sales, forget everything else and study human nature, why people do, what they do and when they do it.
Get the answer to those questions and you will be in a position to manipulate your sales results.
