Is a tax ID required?

Hi i am quite new to this, and was interested in buying from a certain website. But the prices seemed a little high for wholesale so i emailed them about their wholesale prices and they need a tax id among other things... So would you have to own a store to be able to get wholesale clothing from there or is there a way i could get a tax id..I just sell clothes online!

if you live in united states got to state + deparment of licensing business . You need also to get your IBT (if you live in IL called illinois bisness tax) to do business in your state to be a legitimate business person and a law abider citizen of united states.. dont forget to inform also your county and city ..
