Hi. Ebay and the web are full of these types of the sites. Basically the people who sell the sites make money in several different ways:
1: from the subscription fees.
2: from the products that are drop shipped from the site.
3: additional hosting fees and upgrade costs.
These sites can be made to produce profit, but you have to drive traffic to your site to do this.
Also you must keep in mind since these are rather generic sites, that the seller is probably selling dozens, if not hundreds of the same site. This means that the market is going to be flooded with not only the same type site, but with the same products being offered..It's kinda like driving down the road looking for gas stations; there's one on every corner, all selling gas, and the prices are all the same. So which one do you stop at?
Getting traffic to the site, and advertising the site will most often be more expensive than the amount of profit that the site can produce.
The biggest problem with these types of sites it that they are just sitting out there on the web, with no way for anyone to find them. Unless you have the ability to add content to your site, (that is, pages on your site where you can enter some keywords into some sort of text or descriptive context) then the search engine spyders will have no way of locating indexing and ranking your site. Basically, think of it this way: Most stores and shopping malls are located on major streets, and in large groups, with lots of advertisement signs posted along the way, to guide you to all of the stores. Yours is sitting alone in the middle of a vast Forrest.
When you type into search an item that you are searching for in a search engine, such as lets say; google, it sends out what is called spyders.
They search the web for this keyword. For instants,
