Hi , a question for JIMMY and some of the other EBAY VETS ..i have been selling on ebay off and on since 1999 but have never looked into the EBAY STORE OPTION ...The question i have is after reading the rules guidelines etc ..1)Are you limited when people do a search it says that the regular auctions get more views ...2) also it says that the gallery listing is ony a extra 1 cent is this because the gallery is only seeable when in the store .....3)also the stores range from $15-$50-$400 ..i was wondering the $15-40 is there any meaningfull difference .....i would be selling mainly new era caps/hats that would range probaly between $5-$15 probaly listing 100-200 items a month ..i just notice when i do a search the ebay store items come up at the bottom of the page with no gallery listing - and the way ebay is going IMO the gallery is key as the test i did the gallery listed items always seem to sell for good bit more unless it is an item of only a few similar listings...thanks for the help and good luck to all .
Ebay store and Gallery question ?
1)Are you limited when people do a search it says that the regular auctions get more views ...
Yes you are, because when people do a search now only auctions show up in the listings unless a store keyword is searched for. But still its listed at the very bottom of the listings under ebay stores.
2) also it says that the gallery listing is ony a extra 1 cent is this because the gallery is only seeable when in the store .....
Yes your paying 1 cent for gallery views in your store.
3)also the stores range from $15-$50-$400 ..i was wondering the $15-40 is there any meaningfull difference
Not really much of a difference. Except for a prostore you would get a few more design options and a URL to your store.
Best thing to do is list everything in your store and post a few auctions of your more popular items, then redirect traffic to your store with a big link in the middle of your auction description sending viewers to your store.
Here's my 2 cents, I too have been a member
of ebay since 1999. After all these years I finally opened
a ebay store and a few months (9) of having a store, I decided to close it. Not worth the money.
Ebay has been a constant drain on my finances. I know I am negative but its very difficult to become a power seller if you don't have a lot of money. Simply, because you sometimes have to list an item serveral times just to get good page postioning. Each time costing you.
Here's an example: I lisited a LCD Flat Screen 17' starting price 98.00 no reserve. Went 7 Days
without anybody looking at the item. (No Sales).
I listed it on U-bid this time at 125.00 starting price. Bingo sold all four in one day.
I know Jimmy is a powerseller on ebay but I'm sure he lost a lot money before becoming a powerseller. Ask him.
Everytime I see someone asking/wanting to start selling on ebay, I want to warning them. Dispite what everyone thinks, it is not that easy. Some people think, I'll list and sell and become rich. Think twice.
There ia an informorcial on TV, that claims if you buy there program you'll become a powerseller in no time, boy do people fall for that! Sad they alllow it.
Thats my in-put on ebay.

Try a Link hidden: Login to view store (it's free) I have a prostore and don't like it, I just use it to redirect to ebay store. If anyone knows how I can cancell my prostore and keep my Link hidden: Login to view name please let me know. I can't start over with a new name or address.
Well there is always good and bad with everything - i can say that EBAY doesnt owe me anything as it has helped me get top dollar out of some used household items like fitness equipment , tanning bed, bedroom set that i tried to sell in local paper and eitheir got no calls or offered 10% of what it was worth .... the problem to me isnt as much EBAY as it is PAYPAL FEES -you just get ate up between the 2 when you are selling items under $10 and to me you almost have to pay the extra money for the GALLERY LISTING as people are lazy and like to see the item before they even open the link ........Jimmy said it best you have to sell in high volume making $1 -$5 an item unless you are blessed to have a connection with items that you can make more money off of but most items i have been able to turn a profit or small items like dvds-cds- clothes-caps-sunglasses ..this is why i am looking at doing the local mall flea market gig - to see if i fare any better ..but what i discovered is this the local nice flea market is $32 a day for one booth 10x12 that includes 1 table, electricity and local sales tax .which means that if i sale $320 in a day i am still paying out 10% and more of course if sales or lower but on smaller items opposed to ebay where i am paying about 15-20% it may be a bit better as i also dont have to deal with shipping cost etc .

Honestly Im not a powerseller anymore. Me and my wife took a vacation Break from our home business from late november untill febuary and lost our powerseller status. We Started back up last week and have so far sold close to 200 items. Hopefully we will get our powerseller status back in 3 months.
Before we went on vacation we sold on average 160 items a month but are now boosting our presence on ebay to hopefully move up to over 800 items a month. We sell small profit items but we make our money by selling large amounts. We normally make 2-7 an item. But it averages out to about 4 in profits when you consider relisting fees we inccur when trying to sell in volume.
But bacpro is correct, We lost several thousand dollars and 2 years before we became a powerseller. Ive never been one to give up so we kept investing, And kept trying new Ideas untill we finally found our small niche. Its not a big profit success story yet but were generating a very steady income of $2,000 to $3500 a month from our online ventures and approximately $1600 of that is from ebay alone.
Just keep trying new things and dont give up when you come to a dead end. I ran into many dead ends when I started.
Yes ebay raises thier prices and cuts into your profit a little. But we just do what we can to sell more. We normally close 40 auctions a day and sometimes more. selling at least 18-26 items per day and on sundays we usually close 32-38 auctions.
I found the ebay store usefull for 1 thing only. Organizing the categories for the items I sell.
If I have kids clothing and lingerie on auction , Then I want my buyers to be able to sift through my items by size. I hardly ever sell items out of my store but Im certain the store helps me get bids on my auctions.
The funny thing is i didnt qualify after october to be a powerseller but they just removed it from my username last week .
I posted this earlier on another topic about selling online and will post it again as I have benefitted from the site below just from the eBay reading materials they have on their website. Maybe it will benefit others also...
Also for members who are not familiar with eBay, there are tons of free articles and resources at Link hidden: Login to view
I have found this site to be very informative. Also they have a tool there called 'eBay misspelling tool' You type in a word and it brings up all the sellers on eBay who misspelled the name of the product they are trying to sell.
This is a great benefit to buyers, because very few people will see these sellers products all because it was spelled wrong. So now your chances of getting that product at the lowest possible price is much more likely.
I'm a power seller, don't know why because i don't sell much a month :?
We sell Ps3 and Psp, we are updating our website soon to a more pro looking easy to use template, no flash.
I'm new salehoo but not new to selling on the net.
