Branded Manufacturers that Directly Deals with Retailers

I see that Otterbox will allow vendors and will supply directly to businesses who want to sell their product. Are there any other brands that you know of that will distribute directly to the seller and not have to go through wholesale companies? I sell on eBay and most of these wholesale companies sell to resellers, but resellers like myself would only make about a dollar profit due to shipping costs and fees on eBay and Amazon. Who else besides Otterbox distributes directly to resellers?

Ruth, I am looking to buy directly from companies as a supplier and not drop shipping or going through a "wholesale" supplier. The suppliers I see have their inventory priced so high. I can't resell it and make a profit. I don't understand how eBay sellers get their brand new inventory when buying from wholesalers or liquidators. There is virtually no margin for profit. Any suggestions?

Hi Jennifer,

I agree with you that is is very difficult. You are in a better position than most in that you want to own your inventory. When I was a seller, the process that worked for me was to identify the product that met my parameters (I'll be happy to discuss how I established that) and then I sourced the product. If I couldn't source within the parameters, I moved on to another product until I found a product(s) that I could source and make money. No small task! :)

Hi Jennifer,

Have you spoken to wholesalers about pricing?

If you are looking to purchase inventory, ignore website pricing. You need to speak to the wholesalers about your volume and they will price accordingly. You will find in most cases that you will get the same pricing from a wholesaler than you will from the manu, given of course that they will sell direct to you to start with.
