What is an ideal profit markup and what should my wife start

Wifey keeps saying "its your eBay business not mine" I want her to sell something for herself,something simple where she wont cause much havoc, what do you guys suggest??

2, I set my initial percentage of 25% above wholesale price, I then set it to 35%, no I am thinking maybe I should go to 50% and leave it there, what do you guys think?

OH, at the start of the month, I approached a wholesaler here in australia to dropship, their policy was you had to purchase 3 items first, I asked him to give me a chance, so far this month I have ordered of him over $4000 at 65 orders, you think he is happy???

Will this be your wife's first time selling on eBay? If so, I certainly recommend that she sells something she is interested in.

Even with your help, there is a lot to learn, so selling something that she has a genuine interest in will be a big help.

To answer your second question, you're drop shipping, right? If so, I would say 35% is pretty damn good. If it were me, I would be going with volume of sales over profit per sale, and keeping it at 35%.

If you can keep your prices below any competitors, you will be well ahead of the game.

That's just me though :)

Is jewelry her interest or yours? It would be really nice for her to come up with something she fancies like what Alice had mentioned - it'll be easier for her to start and keep up since it may be fun and interesting for her too!

I presume that that's your baby in the pic - baby products is also another great category and a lot of moms found found success selling these items.

She could also start selling some old things for practice till she gets the feel of online selling...before actually deciding on a specific niche.

You may well be lucky that she doesn't have that much interest in you at the moment AGS, I doubt you would fetch that much in the current market

What about getting out in the fresh morning air and doing a garage sale run around one weekend. Let her get her nose into some boxes and see what tickles her fancy.

Make a day of it, treat her to a nice lunch after some digging, and ..... OMG, I'll stop there, marriage advice isn't my genre : )

Btw, that's a hell of a margin you are already making on drop shipping. I'm thinking you should start writing a how to guide lol. Congrats on digging up that supplier as well, it's the absolute best way to go using a drop shipping model in my opinion.

You get a secret supplier that know one else is using, and you can even get access to products that no one else is drop shipping by digging up some non-advertisied drop shipping sources!

I actualy found them on here and yes they do also sell on ebay, i now have 3 companies in aust that I deal through.

Seriously, really good effort mate!

One area that you may also like to explore if you're in a major centre, weekend craft type markets. Plenty of supply avenues there with people making their own things and using only these types of markets as their selling avenues.

lol, I don't know of any but I suggest that you try searching for keywords like "novelty pacifiers" if you are looking at American or Chinese suppliers, as this is the American term for what we call "dummies" (Chinese suppliers are more than likely using the American term).
