mckeownbm Hi all, I am just wondering whether anyone knows roughly the maximum value of items that can be imported into New Zealand without incurring any taxes? The customs website is not very clear on this. Thanks for your help in advance:) mckeownbm
fudjj It's about 1000 in Aus, and I would imagine it being close, but I would just give them a quick call to confirm the exact amount if the info is a little obscure on the site.
natalienz I think its $500. Check out the free downloads salehoo has on shipping I think that tells you.
mckeownbm Thanks for both of your replies:) I will check the shipping download then call Customs if it's still unclear.
mckeownbm Just checked the Salehoo Bonus Shipping Guide, it does say $500 for NZ and $1000 for AUS. I really should have checked that before posting but no worries. Thanks for your help!
natalienz No problem, also check out Link hidden: Login to view this is more detailed and outlines other taxes you might have to pay especially when importing domestically produced items :)
mckeownbm Cheers - this one states that goods which attract only GST can be imported to a maximum value of $399 inc. freight before the 'revenue collection threshold is crossed.' However the threshold for clothing, footwear and other dutiable goods is much lower. At the moment I am only looking to import small amounts at a time so hopefully this won't be a problem.
dli yeah its around $500. I imported around $2,000 worth of goods once and was charge about $250, but have never been charged more than that. My mum imports too and she keeps hers under $500 every order, she's never been charged a cent.
mckeownbm Ohk - thanks for your information. I am currently importing clothes but am keeping the total value of each shipment very low due to the threshold for domestically produced items being less than $500.
edmax100 Hi, I just wonder where do you get the info about NZ$ 500? I checked at the customs website and it states NZ$50? Please help clarify this issue. Thanks
