Hi Randy and welcome to the forum,
First thing you need to do is get a website, so there are a few options for you to consider. You can have a site custom built to your specific requirements. Usually the most expensive option, but one that gives you total flexibility over the design, function and branding. So for me, if you have the budget to spend, it's always the best way to go.
You can buy what is called a turnkey site, typically this is an e-commerce site already stocked with a range of products for you to sell. These types of sites are usually sold through suppliers who use their own products to fill the store with.
You then have webstores, like as eBay offers. So essentially everything is done for you, you simply upload your products and you pay the provider, eBay or whoever, a monthly lease fee for that store.
Then you have options like that what SaleHoo offers, a set platform style that has already been coded and ready for you to upload your products.
Each option has pros and cons, just like everything else. It's really a matter of what you feel suits you best. Most options will still require you to register a domain and get a hosting plan, however not required for a platform like an eBay Store as they host it for you.
The best bit of advice I can possibly give you is that no matter what option you choose, you have to be in a position to market it effectively. Without that marketing, no one is going to even know it exists and that makes it hard to get any sales. This is where plenty go wrong, they jump straight to the website stage, without having any plans on how to make the website work after they have it.
So make sure you put the horse before the cart when just starting out. What about just selling on sites like eBay, Amazon, Bonanza and so on; do you really need a website?
You've got a lot of questions you need to ask yourself before you even thing about which website option is best for you.
Cheers
