What is a Sales Tax ID?
The sales tax Id is also called a Retail or Reseller's License, State Sales Tax Id, Tax Id, Resale Number, Resale Certificate, or Vendor's License.
All of these names are referring to one thing: A certificate issued for a small fee by your state (if you live in Canada or the US) or country that says you are registered to collect sales tax. You can usually get one from your State's website - just Google 'Your State + sales tax'.

In Australia, taxes they put on goods/services is called GST. Based on their tax authority's website, Goods and services tax (GST) is a broad-based tax of 10% on most goods, services and other items sold or consumed in Australia.
You must register for GST if:
-your business or enterprise has a GST turnover (gross income minus GST) of $75 000 or more
-your non-profit organisation has a GST turnover of $150 000 per year or more
If your business or enterprise doesn’t fit into one of the above categories, registering for GST is optional. However, if you choose to register, you generally must stay registered for at least 12 months.

When you register for GST, you'll need an Australian Business Number (ABN).
