Do I need to get a tax ID and how do I get one?

WELL, AS IM READING LEARNING SOMETHING NEW EVERY DAY DIGGING DEEP DOWN INTO THESE FORUMS, I SEE THAT YOU MUST HAVE A RESALE LICENSE PERMIT TAX ID BUSINESS LICENSE,

IS IT NECESSARY TO HAVE ONE WHEN YOUR JUST STARTING OUT IN THE GAME , HOW HARD IS IT TO GET, WHATS THE COST?

I'VE ALWAYS THOUGHT YOU HAD TO GET TO SCHOOL FOR BUSINESS OR SOMETHING IN ORDER TO GET ONE OF THESE,I'VE JUST STARTED SELLING ON EBAY ,BEEN SELLING ON THERE FOR ABOUT A YEAR, I HAVEN'T EVEN TOUCHED THE SURFACE OF SELLING ON OTHER PLATFORMS ETC,

I'M STILL LEARNING ,BUT IT SEEMS LIKE WHEN YOU HAVE THIS LICENSE IT UNLOCKS THE DOORS TO BETTER PRODUCTS THIS IS WHAT IM SEEING , ALL THE GOOD STUFF YOUR TRYING TO SELL OR LOOKING AT IN THE WHOLESALE DIRECTORY YOU DAMM NEAR NEED A RESALE LICENSE , AND FOR THE OK ONES YOU DO NOT,WHAT IF YOU HAVENT BEEN TO SCHOOL FOR BUSINESS JUST YET OR WHATEVER BUT YOU JUST WANT TO START RESELLING THINGS AND FLIPPING THEM, WHAT IF YOU JUST ONLY WANT TO SELL ONLINE OR EITHER AMAZON ON EBAY

Each country and state have different names for the same thing, which is essentailly a business tax id. So don't get confused by all the different terms that get thrown around and to keep it simple, I'll just use "tax id" to explain it.

What does a tax id do?

A tax id performs two uses. It registers you with your local tax authority to be able to collect tax and pass it back to them and it shows the supplier that you are a genuine buisness, not just someone looking for the best price for your own consumption.

What does a tax id get you?

It provides you access to wholesale suppliers who will require such to permit you to open an account. There are also some dropshippers requiring this step also now, but it is typically more for wholesale purchasing. So if you aren't looking to purchase in whoesale volume, then it's a step that you may not even need worry about.

If you are using an international supplier that requires a tax id, they will usually wave that requirement once they know you are an international customer. However, if they don't wave then you can simply use a tax id frokm your own local tax authority to establish an account with them.
