Customs duties when importing electronic cigarettes

Hi to all,

I have been looking at drop shipping electronic cigarettes for a while now. I have not advertised them for sale as i am unsure of the rules and regulations surrounding them.

I have tried to talk to both New Zealand Customs and Ministry of Health about them but customs could not give a straight answer and ministry of health class them as medical.

Has anyone had any experience importing and selling these in NZ?

I do see them for sale on some sites in NZ but it just seems like one big grey area.

I think i would be a fantastic product to aid people to quit smoking as the New Zealand Government has rasied smoking prices 3 times in the last year to very expensive prices.

Most of the research being done as to how safe or effective these devices are, is being done in New Zealand. I tried searching for information or documents stating that this is not allowed in NZ but found none :)
