l sold a chair to a Steve in qld and he never paid for the item so l put in an unpaid item report. He was not a member and eBay gave me some money back, my ratings have been good. l sold a sofa to an Alicia which has the same address as this Steve and she never paid for it so l put in a complaint to eBay then she paid for the item after 5 days now she has given me a bad report about the description of the product but l used the dealer's description. What can l do about this? Please some advise would be great. It has knocked the hell out of my sales.this alicia is a seller
Need some advice on what to do with a buyer who gave me a bad report on eBay
hmmm it might be a competitor of yours trying to ruin your Feedback.
I'm not sure why someone would re-buy your product after they didn't pay the first time. So that's the only thing that comes to my head, I could be wrong though.
Hi Catherine,
Very weird and frustrating!
Does the buyer have much feedback? You could check to see whether they are also a seller/business like dilimited suggests - or whether they have had any other problems in the past.
Unfortunately there is not a heck of a lot you can do apart from block them from bidding on your future listings and responding to the feedback.
Details on how to do this are here: Link hidden: Login to view
Hope that helps and please let us know how you go :)
Well you have run into eBay scumbags. And ones not to smart. Your not allowed to leave feedback in retribution, if I am correct. This person may have signed up again under an alias. There may be no Alicia but the same person coming back and buying from you for the purpose of getting even. And that is what i would write in my letter to the eBay safety dept. Explain that this person came back under another name for the purpose of leaving you a neg..
If you find no relief from eBay there are tasty little treats you can leave out for this disgusting specimen of a human.
I would contact eBay through live support. SOmetimes you can get better responses as you know they aren't canned responses but from a live human being on the other side.
Of course you could always set up a phantom account or two and neg the hell out of this seller. But its always better to take the hi road unless of course the avalanche has destroyed the road.
Yeah, this has a really bad smell about it, and Planes idea about gathering all the details about your previous issue with the same address and taking it to ebay.
9/10 times they won't get involved, but they do step in on occasions, and I think if you have that sort of evidence to show there is a bias, then there's a really good chance that they'll step in and put it right.
Of course the other issue is that this appears to be a drop shipped item if I read that correctly, where you say that you used the dealer's description. If you had never personally sighted the item, are you sure the information the dealer supplied you was accurate?
My feeling, it's pay back on their behalf, but you should cover all your bases just to be sure.
You can block those buyers from buying from you, I've blocked a few buyers who have not paid after the same thing happened to me about 3/4 years ago on ebay.
l spoke to ebay and more or less they said l have to put up with it so l sent them a message and said l can sign up under another name and give them bad feed back .no reply so far.if thats the case thats a load of crap pardon my french
Maybe I shouldn't have said to give bad feedback to them. The first thing you shouldn't do is tell the other person you will leave them bad feedback because that is evidence one is leaving a neg in retribution and ebay will flag you for that. Just forget about them. Explain the situation in your "response to the feedback" and move on.
What I hinted at was leaving anonymous FB and requires steps which really aren't appropriate to discuss in this forum.
Anyway I apologize for somewhat dubious advice.
From my experience, this will not hurt your ebay account. I received a neg and explained the circumstances in my respond to feedback. My sales were not hurt at all. As a matter of fact, I think buyers left me extra good feedback because some saw I was wronged. And my DSR's and FB% have risen since and I drop ship too.
l didnt say l was going to do it l said so l can sign up under another name and give someone bad feed back l said that as a statement cause thats more or less what they are saying that people can do that and get away with it and ebay are prepared to do nothing u dont have to appoligize
Hi Catherine, how did you approach ebay support with this, through a documented email or live support?
The sort of response that you received sounds like it may well of come from live support. They can be helpful at fixing small issues, but their job is to service online inquires as quickly as possible, and will often just dump something like this in the too hard basket.
By emailing your concerns to support, documenting all of the evidence, you will be able to open up the lines of communication with a rep, and have a far better chance at stating your case.
If that is the response from customer support to well documented email correspondence, then I wouldn't be letting it go at that, I would be asking for complete clarification as to their policy, and as to why they were prepared to let someone get away with what has happened here.
I would be at the very least be demanding a review of their original decision. You can't let this type of thing consume you of course, the longer you trade on ebay the higher your chances are of coming across complete a-holes that are just out to screw up your day.
Use the feedback response option, although with the limited amount of characters your are allotted, you may have to get very creative with your writing skills to make your point effectively.
Btw, did you confirm with the supplier that the description of the product you listed was in fact accurate, if you're going to shoot, you need to make sure you have the right ammunition.
l did all that and still keep getting shot down does not matter what l do l just got shot down sent them all my email documentation and everything else they just keep saying thst ur better of just getting on with ur sales
Hey Catherine!
I see, you simply stated an observation to them. That's fine. Let them know you understand what they did. Maybe that will scare them a little.
I'm going to make the assumption your new to ebay. WIth that said, your going to run into this situation every so often. The way ebay is set up nowadays makes it difficult for the new and or small seller.
If you expect this in the future you won't have it take up a lot of your time and cause you frustration. This type of situation is one of the pitfalls on ebay.
Really. Just move on. The amount of time one can expend on this can be tiring.
Something you can do is set up three seller accounts all running off one Paypal account.
Get them all to 10 feedback and then switch between them. If one gets dinged just move to the next one and let that one cool off. Low DSR's drop off after 90 days and the account si considered back to normal. SO if one has 3 accounts, they just sell on that one and so on.
Completely agree with the advice Planes has given you regarding multiple accounts, I maintain 10 private accounts and 3 business accounts. It's not that I go around burning customers lol, but it gives me total flexibility to see a diverse range of products to different markets without any marketing issues getting in the way.
You don't have to go as crazy as I do, but always maintaining a few accounts is a great idea.
