Need help to assess if supplier/seller is reliable

Hi SaleHoo,

I've recently engaged in conversation with a member from Alibaba who is represented as a trading company. He stipulates that he buys his stock straight from the factory which is how he affords such low rates per product.

He states that he can get me most Yamaha products from the factory and post them to Australia via Ship with everything included.

I asked him about a particular boat, he quoted back 2 days later with USD $30,000 with the trailer motor and everything included shipped to the port of Sydney Australia.

Now my issue is 1. I don't know if he is the real deal or just some scammer, 2. Is there anyway to arrange a agent in Japan to check and verify what he says is true and ensure I am actually getting a product basically overseeing the entire transaction.

The reason I am suspicious is the particular boat he quoted me for was listed as used on eBay AU for $72,000AUD + so I don't quite know whether to risk a smaller transaction or where to turn.

Any advice would be really beneficial at this point

You are welcome to visit our company and do business face to face,But I need to let you know that we don't have stock in Hong Kong,Because we normally export the engines from Japan to our customers so that we can avoid the taxes.So you can let your representatives come to our office and discuss the details.But our warehouse located in Japan,If it is possible,You can come to Japan and check the shipment.

Because we get the outboards from Yamaha factory,So we can offer you the factory price without the taxes,So it is cheap.

Hi bcurko,

Does seem a bit suspicious. Plus the mode of payment is a big no-no - Western Union and T/T is the quickest way of throwing your money away.

If you can find an agent/a friend who can oversee and make sure that the shipment pushes through that would be great! But if you can't might be best to avoid this guy (this is just my personal opinion:)).

This is an easy one to rectify. Ask him for a reference from Yamaha. He should be able to give you a name of someone at Yamaha and their number for which you can call. You need the Yamaha office number and his ext. . Don't except cell numbers or ones that do not have the Yamaha greeting.

If he can't or wont give you this, he is definitely a scammer BTW, he probably wont give it to you.
